The ICT-MobileSummit 2009 takes place in Palacio de La Magdalena, Santander, Spain.

Security, Health and Safety

Please wear your name badge for all ICT-MobileSummit 2009 activities, as it is your identification and allows you access to the facilities on offer. Unfortunately, conferences provide a tempting target for thieves, so please take care of bags, personal computers and other personal belongings.

The organisers cannot accept any responsibility for losses incurred or for personal health and safety. Delegates should ensure they have personal health insurance and take the usual care when exploring the city of Santander. Any special needs or requirements, should be dealt with by contacting the conference secretariat prior to the event.

Major Places of Interest

Santander, the capital of Cantabria, is a very pretty and historical city, with good infrastructure and public transport. There is a good range of hotels and restaurants with different price points, nice sea front and easy access to other parts of Cantabria for tours etc.

Apart from visiting the historical parts of Santander, delegates should also visit nearby attractions in Cantabria including Santillana del Mar and Caves of Altamira, Cabárceno Park and Caves of El Soplao.

Transport

It is possible to fly directly to Santander with Ryanair and Iberia. The airport is 7 km from the city centre. Ryanair has direct flights to Santander from Dublin, Frankfurt, London, Milan, and Rome, while Iberia has direct flights to Santander from Amsterdam, Paris, Madrid, Barcelona and other national airports.

The Santander airport bus stop is just outside the main terminal building and the buses run into Santander (bus station) every 30 minutes from 06.40 - 23:00 and from Santander from 06:30 to 22:45. Bilbao airport is 89 km from Santander with very good connections to other European cities. It takes 1 - 1.5 hrs to drive from Bilbao depending on traffic and time of day. It takes approximately 90 mins by bus and up to 3 hours by train. All major car hire agencies have an office at Bilbao airport.

The Bizkaibus A-3247 departs from outside Bilbao airport terminal to Gran Via 79, Plaza Moyua (central Bilbao) and Alamameda Recaide 11 at 30 minute intervals from 06:15 to midnight. The buses from central Bilbao to the airport run from 05.25 to 21:55. The journey time is around 45 minutes and the current cost is €1.10. To view the train timetable from Bilbao to Santander, please visit www.feve.es and http://www4.feve.es/horarios/ There are three trains on average from Bilbao to Santander per day (08:00, 13:00 and 19:30) and three trains from Santander to Bilbao (08:00, 14:00, 19:00). The train journey takes approximately 3 hours.
